Take a look at Grove Lane Park’s new play area after its £29K revamp

Work has been completed on a £29.5k makeover of the play area at Grove Lane Park in Hemsworth.

Upgrades include the installation of an inclusive climb and slide multi-play unit with extra wide slide, an original dish roundabout, inclusive flower springy and a small seesaw.

New safety surfacing has also been installed, plus upgrades to existing equipment including new parts, climbing ropes and re-painting.

The money is part of the Town Centre Regeneration Fund.Improvements have been paid for through Wakefield Council’s Town Centre Regeneration Fund.

The project has been supported by ward councillors who have worked closely with residents to identify projects that will benefit the local community.

Coun Michael Graham, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Growth, said: “The new and improved facilities at the park look great and are a wonderful addition to the local community.

“We consulted with local people, and they told us that an improved playground with more inclusive equipment was what they wanted. We are really pleased with the work and the changes that have been

made.“This is a fantastic example of how the community, local councillors and the Council can work together to improve life for local people. Everyone will be working together to make sure the play area is maintained to a high standard.”
