WHATEVER has happened to Pontefract Park lake?
When I was a young boy I spent most of the summer holidays fishing and having fun at Ponte Park. Now, at the age of 52, I took my boy fishing there last Sunday afternoon and to my amazement there was not one person fishing.

Ten years ago you would not have got a fishing spot on a Sunday afternoon. It is now so run down, Wakefield Council ought to be ashamed of how they have let it deteriorate so much.
What concerned me most was a gang of young lads swimming in the lake. No security, no lifeguard as such.
It was up to me to tell them to get out and the danger water can bring.

When young kids have such a bad name these days, you would think they would do more to bring this lake up to scratch. Get your act together, Wakefield Council.
