A WEEK of community activities was celebrated with a fun-filled family day at Allerton Bywater's Brigshaw High School.
Residents from the village and nearby Kippax and Swillington had taken part in events – including community cafés and litter-picking – during an initiative to bring together churches, community organisations, the police and government bodies.

A community day of live music, games, a tombola and sports activities was held at the Brigshaw Lane school to mark the end of Hope 08.

Simon Dowling, of Leeds Faith in Schools, said: “Hope 08 in Allerton Bywater and the surrounding areas had a huge impact on the local community and this project will have a lasting impact at community level.”
