YORKSHIRE pride was captured on camera as people took a trip down memory lane to celebrate the white rose county's heritage.
Residents’ life stories were recorded for a feature film about Castleford’s mining communities in the event – held at the 2 Sagar Street gallery – to mark Yorkshire Day on Friday.

Special exhibition Back to Coal, by local artist Harry Malkin, was also on display.

Emma Goodway, art development worker at 2 Sagar Street, said: “A lot of people turned out to talk about their experiences in the pits or mining life as a way of marking Yorkshire Day.

“It was wonderful to record these proud memories for our short film so we can look back at them in the future.

“The Back to Coal exhibition also made a fitting background.”

A new exhibition of abstract paintings – created by Heather Parkinson, partner of Featherstone television presenter Ian Clayton – will be on show at 2 Sagar Street from Friday.
