DANNY Evans is keeping both feet firmly on the ground in the wake of Featherstone's vital win at Batley.
Sunday's 24-18 victory was Evans' first since being appointed head coach - and lifted Rovers out of Co-operative National League One's bottom two.
Evans admitted yesterday the win had lifted morale but stressed no-one is falling in love with themsel
ves just yet.
With no game this weekend, Rovers return to action at home to Celtic Crusaders on Sunday, July 13, and Evans says there is plenty of hard work in store between now and then.
"We're not getting carried away. We need to take each week as it comes. This week's focus is on training, the next week is on Celtic - we won't be jumping too far ahead of ourselves.
"We've got a lot of hard work ahead of us and the break gives us extra time on the training field to work as a group.
"There is a lot of improvement in this side, they're all aware of that and they're all prepared to work harder.
"Obviously, we would like to make the play-offs - that's one of our aims - but if we can keep improving each week we'll be happy with that."
Evans was made full-time boss late last week. Dave Downes will be his assistant, with ex-Huddersfield boss Jon Sharp on board in a voluntary role until the end of the season.
Said Evans: "This is a real honour for me. I've played at Featherstone, and have family connections with my dad and granddad playing here. Jon's here to offer advice and help when I need a hand along the way. This is a massive learning curve for me and Jon will make me a better coach."
Ex-Giants boss Sharp said: "I have very fond memories of my time as a player and young coach at Featherstone and as Danny and Dave have also been friends for many years, I was very happy to accept the intivation.
"We've put together a tough programme that we'll use to build on the win at Batley. Our next two league games are against two of the best teams in the division in Celtic and Salford and both will provide a massive challenge.
"The win at Batley has given everybody a big boost and it is important that we take the confidence gained from that into the last seven games of the season."
Meanwhile, Rovers have still to make a decision on former Cas Tigers utility Tom Haberecht, who made a debut for Featherstone's Reserves in last Thursday's 20-32 home defeat by Batley.
